This collage is the first arrangement I made in this series with cut paper. “A Sea of Green” is a collage of crisscrossing greens over bright water. By layering the papers, the material creates additional shadows and variations of color. Once complete, I felt this bright piece needed a light and breathable display, so it now lives in a shadow box frame, adding yet another dimension and layer. This collage sparked a series of more complex painted paper collages but even in its simplicity, this work has strong realism. When I experience this artwork, I am transported to the edge of a dock, looking down into the water.
